Voluntary regulation for Naturopathy

The Guild, as a member of the General Naturopathic Council (GNC), has been working with the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) to establish a route by which members may register with this self-regulatory body. The first step is for Guild members to meet the registration criteria of the GNC.

Establishment of a General Naturopathic Council two-tier register

The GNC has decided to establish a two-tier Register for Naturopaths. Practitioners who are already fully qualified in Naturopathy will be able to apply for registration at the higher level. Many Guild members are already multi-qualified practitioners, but not Naturopaths; the plan is that they will be able to apply for GNC registration at the lower level, with the aim of working up to becoming a full Naturopath by completing 'gaps' in the GNC's Core Elements. Reference to the Core Elements document will enable you to assess your current status. Click here to download a copy of the GNC Core Elements document.

In many cases previous training and qualifications will put members very close to meeting these elements. Where there are currently 'gaps' in training, some of the Guild's accredited colleges will be able to help with 'top-up' modules - Head Office will be able to provide details. The GNC's register will provide an exciting and unprecedented opportunity for members to become fully registered Naturopaths.
